Kandhamal: With a view to solve the last mile connectivity issues associated with the delivery of medicines to remote and inaccessible areas, the Kandhamal District administration has taken up an innovative step to engage drones for this purpose.
The drones will be used to transport medicines and vaccines to the remote areas of the district where communication facilities make it difficult to deliver on time. The technology driven initiative is going to change the scenario in Kandhamal district as initial tests have shown its productivity. During her visit to Kandhamal yesterday, Health Secretary Shalini Pandit appreciated the initiative and said this will help in saving precious lives.
As Kandhamal district has a large number of villages that are difficult to access and very remote, the drones will be very helpful also in delivering other essential goods and items. With the use of new technology, the administration is on its way to the doorsteps of the common man in providing governance and making life easier for the people of remote areas.
Appreciating the initiative, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said “Commend Kandhamal district administration on using drones to transport medicines and vaccines to remote areas. Odisha has been at the forefront of promoting innovative ideas to provide various citizen-centric services in a hassle-free manner.” #OdishaCares
