Kendrapara Extends Weekend Shutdown till July 31

Kendrapara: As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, the Kendrapara district administration has extended weekend shutdown till July 31.

The number of positive cases of COVID-19 has been on rise across the State and there is a risk of transmission of the disease. Hence, it has become necessary to restrict activities increasing exposure and risk in larger public interest, said the district administration.

The entire district will be completely shut down on Saturdays and Sundays this month, Kendrapara Collector Samarth Verma said.

The night curfew on weekdays will remain in force from 9 PM to 5AM, he added.

Verma also appealed the people to cooperate the administration in the fight against Corona.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Kendrapara district is 251 including 25 active cases. As many as 226 patients have recovered from the disease, according to the Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department.

Notably, the weekend shutdown remains in force in 10 districts – Ganjam, Gajapati, Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda – till July 31.

Earlier today, Balangir district administration declared weekend shutdown till July 31.
