Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended Bibhas Mazumdar, Food Safety Officer at the office of CDMO Kendrapara for taking bribe of Rs 5,000 from a proprietor of a shop to issue License in his favour to run his business.
Mazumdar had conducted surprise raid at the proprietor’s shop and asked him to apply for a license, and demanded bribe Rs.5,000 to issue the same.
The proprietor of the shop contacted Vigilance authorities, following which the safety officer was nabbed today.
Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Mazumdar from the DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case no.28/2024 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against the accused.
