Kendrapara: Veteran Freedom Fighter Makardhwaj Das Felicitated on August Kranti Diwas

Kendrapara: The Kendrapara district administration felicitated veteran freedom fighter Makardhwaj Das on the occasion of August Kranti Diwas today. 

Makardwaj Das is one of ten freedom fighters from Odisha to have chosen for the prestigious President’s Award on the occasion of Kranti Diwas.

On behalf of President of India, ADM Kendrapara Basant Kumar Rout visited the residence of Makardhwaj Das at Hatabanapur village in Karilopatna to felicitate him for his contribution to the nation’s freedom movement, informed Kendrapara Collector Samarth Verma.

The President’s Award is given to the freedom fighters on Kranti Diwas at a special ceremony conducted at Presidential Estate in Raisina Hill every year. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country, the event is not organized this year.

It has been decided that the district administration will personally go to awardees’ residence and honour them with the award.
