Keonjhar Admin to Set up Shelter Home for Homeless People with Mental Illness

Bhubaneswar: The Keonjhar district administration will set up a shelter home for homeless people with mental illness.

The district administration announced that DSSO (District Social Welfare Office) Keonjhar has signed an MoU for the ‘Establishment and Management of 30 Beds Shelter Home for Homeless People (Destitute) with Mental Illness (HPMI)’ in the presence of the Collector and CEO ZP -CEO DMF It aims to provide shelter to homeless individuals with mental illness and supporting their well-being.

The Shelter Home will act as a ‘Rescue cum Rehabilitation Centre’ for HPMI, providing physical and mental treatment while also facilitating their reunion with their family, informed Keonjhar Collector Ashish Thakare.

The soon to be operational centre will also offer vocational training and skill-building opportunities. Follow-up care will ensure that they continue to receive necessary treatment. The shelter home will be fully funded under DMF Keonjhar.
