Keonjhar Dist Admin Restarts Govt COVID Hospital

Keonjhar: In response to the surging need to provide intensive care and to ensure oxygen support for COVID-19 affected patients, the government COVID hospital has been restarted in Keonjhar from Tuesday.
This has been informed by the Keonjhar district administration.

The hospital, which is fully funded by the District Mineral Foundation consists of 28 bedded ICU with ventilator facilities, 72 beds with full time oxygen support (which can be increased to a total 130 as per requirement).

The hospital has high-end medical equipment such as multi-para monitors, portable X ray, portable Ultrasound, ECG machines, defibrillators, ABG machines, video-bronchoscopes, laryngoscopes, BiPAP machines, dialysis machines, infusion pumps, etc.

Other facilities include dedicated Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS), Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), centralized laundry, integrated laboratory, automatic fire detection and alarm system, nurse call system, centralized RO plant, 24X7 power back-up, Bio-Medical Waste Management System (BMWMS) and other auxiliary systems.

Armed with sufficient medical staff including anesthetists, radiologists, medicine specialists, ICU specialists, staff nurses, paramedics, technicians and general duty assistants, the hospital will provide the best-of-treatment to patients, the district administration said.

The district has also ramped up the COVID Hospital laboratory to carry out critical biomarker tests like IL6, D-dimer and Ferritin, which will help in providing accurate and timely medical treatment.

Adequate additional stocking has been done for oxygen cylinders to ensure uninterrupted supply of oxygen, the administration added.

As per the latest data, Keonjhar district has 568 active cases of COVID-19.
