Kerala CM Supports Naveen’s Proposal on COVID-19 Vaccination

Bhubaneswar: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has supported to his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik’s proposal for centralized procurement of vaccines by the Central Government.

In a letter to the Odisha Chief Minister, Vijayan said that he completely agrees with the proposal that the Centre should procure preventive vaccine against Covid and the administration of vaccination can be left to be managed effectively by the States.

“ We are in complete agreement that the Centre should procure preventive vaccine against Covid and the administration of vaccination can be left to be managed effectively by the States”, the Kerala CM said in the letter.

“Looking forward to fruitful co – operation in the efforts to meet the unprecedented challenge posed by the pandemic”, the letter further reads.

Earlier, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee extended her support to the Naveen’s proposal on vaccination strategy.
Notably, the Odisha Chief Minister wrote to his counterparts seeking a consensus on universal vaccination programme.

In a letter to all Chief Ministers, he expressed grave concern at the prevailing COVID-19 situation and suggested that the Centre should procure vaccines and distribute them to the States.
“The only way to protect our people against future waves and provide them with a hope of survival is vaccination. Countries which have focused on vaccination programme have seen remarkable improvement in their COVID-19 situation. We have to provide this healing touch to our people,” Naveen said.
