Bhubaneswar: Controversial Khordha BJP MLA candidate Prashant Jagdev has reportedly vandalized the EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) in a polling booth in Bengunia Assembly Constituency.
The shocking incident occurred when the voting for the third phase of the simultaneous polls was underway in the constituency.
Jagdev, who has the history of unruly public behaviour, stormed into a pooling booth in Badakumari Panchayat of Bolagarh Block of Khordha district and damaged the EVM.
The BJP MLA candidate also allegedly assaulted the presiding and polling officers for protesting him. He fled the spot after the incident, as per reports.
Later, the police detained Jagdev while he was fleeing with Bhubaneswar BJP MP candidate Aparajita Saranagi in a car. The police will interrogate the BJP MLA candidate.
Earlier, Jagdev was arrested and jailed after ploughing his car into a crowd leaving 22 people injured in Banapur.
