Koraput Bags National Panchayat Award

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday conferred the National Panchayat Awards upon 45 awardees, selected across various categories, recognizing their exemplary contributions to the themes of sustainable and inclusive development, in New Delhi.

Odisha’s Koraput district administration bagged the National Panchayat Awards 2024 under the ‘Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikash Puraskar’ category. The district was recognised as the second best zilla parishad in the country.

Koraput collector Keerthi Vasan V received the award from the President at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

The award showcases Koraput district’s significant contributions to sustainable and inclusive development.

The Ministry of Panchayat Raj has categorized the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into nine localised themes that include poverty-free and enhanced livelihoods panchayat, healthy panchayat, child-friendly panchayat, water-sufficient panchayat, clean and green panchayat, self-sufficient infrastructure in panchayat, socially just and socially secured panchayat, panchayat with good governance, and women-friendly panchayat.

Odisha won awards in seven categories under the National Panchayat Awards.
