Bhubaneswar: In a bid to promote innovations and best practices in agriculture, food processing and allied sectors, the Odisha Government will be organizing the ‘Krushi Odisha’ at Janta Maidan here from January 20 to 24.
The Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment is hosting the five-day international summit on the theme ‘Leading Farmers towards Profitability’ in partnership with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
The objective of the summit is to showcase the rich agri-ecosystem of Odisha and utilize the untapped potential of agriculture and food sector.
The event will also provide a platform for networking to business community, government representatives, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO’s), progressive farmers, Agri entrepreneurs and other stakeholders.
Notably, the Odisha Agriculture Department received the prestigious Krishi Karman Award from the Centre for its overall food grain production in 2016-17.
The State Government has recently released its new the Agriculture Policy-2020 that aims to ensure agricultural growth, increasing farmers’ income with the help of an eight-point strategy called as ‘SAMRIDHI’.
The SAMRIDHI strategy focuses on leveraging science and technology, adaptation to climate change, market linkage, higher productivity, creating infrastructure, diversification of production, skilling of human resources and strengthening institutions.
