Bhubaneswar: One of the marvelous architectural edifices of modern day Odisha, the Krushi Bhawan situated in the heart of capital city Bhubaneswar has been highly commended at the World Architecture Festival held in Amsterdam.
The Krushi Bhawan, built at a cost of Rs 70 crore from the Krushi Karman Award money, was shortlisted for the WAF in the Building category. Built over an area of 1.3 lakh square feet, the multi-story building has been constructed taking inspiration from Ikat patterns of Odisha handlooms. The bricks used are made from different colours of clay that symbolize the diversity of soils in different regions of the state.
Commenting on the achievement, Naveen tweeted, “Proud that the beautiful #Krushibhawan, built with Krishi Karman Award money has been highly commended at World Architecture Festival. The architecture inspired by the distinctive Ikat weave of #Odisha is a fine narrative of our agricultural folk tales & stories of farmer empowerment.”
