Local MLAs Will Not Be Included in College Governing Bodies, Says Odisha Higher Education Minister

Bhubaneswar: The local MLAs will not be allowed to become the part of the governing body of the degree colleges in Odisha, said State Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo here on Thursday.

Speaking at a function convened by Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha (Odisha Parents Association) here, the Minister said that the degree colleges in the State will not include local legislators or politicians as their governing body president or member and only educationists or academicians will be inducted in the college governing bodies.

A notification in this regard will be issued soon, Sahu said.
The Minister further stated that the teachers of government-run colleges will not be allowed to take private classes.

The government will take strong action if any teacher is found violating the order, he added.
