Lockdown: Odisha Govt, UNICEF Team up to Line-up Fun-Filled Activities for Children

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has joined hands with UNICEF to release a calendar-based fun-filled list of activities for children to keep them engaged in a productive way during the lockdown.

The Women and Child Development (WCD) and Mission Shakti (MS) department along with UNICEF came up with the ‘Ghare Ghare Arunima’ calendar, which has fun-filled list of activities for the children.

The initiative assumes significance for the development of children because nearly 72,587 Anganwadi centers having student strength of 16.13 lakh, between the age group of 3 and 6 years have remained closed since the lockdown imposed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to engage and stimulate these children, the Ghare Ghare Arunima calendar has been released, said an official.

The fun-filled activities for children will be implemented with the support of parents and grandparents.

This will help sustain early learning and ensure school readiness of children at home, the official said.

The initiative will keep more than16 lakh children engaged in a meaningful way during the lockdown.

Earlier, the State Government in collaboration with UNICEF has launched an online competition ‘Mo Pratibha’ to engage the children and youth staying home during lockdown.
