Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government may ease lockdown restrictions in those areas where the infection numbers and test positivity rate is going down. Any decision in this regard will be taken only after the Raja festivities end in the state. The present lockdown in the state will continue till 17th of this month. Speaking to media, Director, Public Health, Niranjan Mishra said the rate of infection in the state is declining and the situation is getting under control. He said any decision on easing lockdown restrictions will be taken only after a review of the COVID-19 situation following Raja festivities.

He also said that the steps taken by the government have helped containing the spread of the virus but we cannot give complete relaxation in the present situation. While some districts have reported a TPR of less than three, districts such as Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh have still higher infection rates.
