Bhubaneswar: Ganjam District has done it again. This time at the Biju Patnaik Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar awards. The district has swept the maximum awards at the state level celebration of Lokseva Diwas 2023 on Sunday.
In the line of National Panchayat Award norms, the Government of Odisha has also been incentivizing the Panchayats through the Biju Patnaik Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar for the best performing Panchayats of Odisha at the Gram Panchayat, Block Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat level for their exemplary work in the field of good governance, strengthening of livelihoods and effective public service delivery.
The objectives of the awards are to assess the performance of PRIS in attaining SDGs through nine identified themes, promote competitive spirit among PRIS in the State and catalyze the process of Localization of SDGs through PRIS and sensitizing them about significance of attaining LSDGs by 2030.
Among the nine themes of awards, Ganjam district has been nominated to receive the State Level Award for being at the first place in the first three District Panchayats. It carries a cash award of Rs 50 lakhs. Likewise, Ganjam’s Rangeilunda Block has received the Best Block Panchayat award which carries a cash award of Rs 30 lakhs.
Among the theme wise awards, various Panchayats of Ganjam districts have been nominated to receive eleven out of the 27 awards.

– Kanchura for Healthy Panchayat
– Chandapur for Child Friendly Panchayat
– Naudika for Water Sufficient
– Sashana Ambagaon and Dhantara for Clean and Green Panchayat
– Saru for Self Sufficient Infrastructure Panchayat
– Kulada for Social Secured Panchayat
– Chamakhandi for Panchayat with Good Governance
– Dhantara for Woman Friendly Panchayat
