Lord Jagannath’s Chapa Khela To Be Held Inside Temple Premises

Puri: Lord Jagannath’s famous Chapa Kehla will be a low key affair this year in view of the Corona Pandemic. The age old ritual that is usually performed in the Narendra Pushkarini starting from Akhsaya Tritiya day for 21 days, will be observed minimally with minimum servitors attending.

The decision was taken today in a meeting of the temple administration attended by senior officials and Bimanabadu sebayatas.

According to sources, two makeshift ponds will be made inside the Sri Jagannath temple premises for performing the Chapa Khela of the deities. All the special rituals associated with the Chapa Khela will be performed there just as Narendra Pushkarini. Also, the Akhsaya Tritiya rituals will also be performed inside the temple premises. In addition, it was decided that all rituals related to the Chapa Khela and other daily Pujas will be performed on time by the servitors.
