Low Pressure Area Forms Over Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today informed that a Low Pressure Area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the same region.

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood, a Low Pressure Area has formed over the same region. It is likely to move west-northwestwards along the monsoon trough during next 2-3 days, the IMD said.

The western end of monsoon trough at mean sea level nuns north of its normal position and is likely to remain to the north of the normal position during the next 2 days and shift southwards subsequently. Its eastern end continues to run along its near normal position dipping into North Bay of Bengal, it added.

Under the influence of above systems fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over east and adjoining central India during July 22 to 24. Isolated extremely heavy falls are also likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh and Telangana on July 22.

Strong surface wind (20-30 kmph gusting to 40 kmph) is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours.
