Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled the Odisha’s first ever syllabi based e-learning app ‘Madhu App’ at the Lok Seva Bhawan here on Tuesday.
Conceptualized and designed by the Ganjam district administration in line with the Chief Minister’s 5T mantra, the mobile app provides mother tongue based virtual classroom experience in the palm of every student of Odisha.
Speaking about the unique android app, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said that it is an honest effort by the administration to Transform in the methods of pedagogy using Technology with coordinated Teamwork of Ganjam Education team in a Time bound manner to bridge the learning gap with utmost Transparency.
Named after Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das, the chief architect of modern Odisha, the Madhu App is an initiative to provide quality teaching content focusing 5E’s of Education – Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate.
The key objective of the App is to kindle the light of knowledge in the hearts of the students of Odisha using technology. The innovative mobile app aims promoting e-learning skills, self-learning and self-assessment of learning achievement by the students themselves. It helps students to clarify doubts at their own space of learning.
Madhu App also aims at refreshing memory of child to recapitulate what is learnt in the classroom or what is taught in a class he or she missed. The app provides best practices in teaching with quality TLMs for conceptual clarity.
In the first phase videos and exercises have been developed in Mathematics and Science courses of classes V to VIII and Class-X in some chapters starting from Chapter-I and the practice tests under DREAM (Drive for Result Enhancement in Annual Matriculation Examination).
The new videos and exercises are prepared and will be uploaded in quick interval. After completion of all chapters of Math and Science, the e-learning contents of other subjects and classes will be added, said an official.
Reputed teachers having excellent teaching skills and in-depth knowledge in their respective subjects have been shortlisted for this purpose. Ganjam District Education Officer (DEO) Sanatan Panda led the team of review committee to select the teachers and assign the chapters.
Professional video documentation teams have also engaged for preparing the lecture videos.
Now-a-days many students are accessible to android based mobile phones even in rural areas. Many children waste their valuable time with android mobile phones for playing games. Madhu App is an attempt to provide Textbook based quality content to the students of Odisha.
