Maharashtra Zilla Parishad Elections: Congress Emerges Single Largest Party in Nagpur

Mumbai: Yet another blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad elections, the saffron party faced massive defeat in Nagpur, the stronghold of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

The Congress came out as the single-largest party in the Zilla Parishad elections in Nagpur.

Of the 58 seats, the Congress emerged as the single largest party with 31 seats. The NCP bagged 10 seats, while the Shiv Sena won one seat. The BJP got just 15 seats.

The major setback for the BJP came from Nitin Gadkari’s native village Dhapewada in Nagpur, where the saffron party suffered a humiliating defeat.
