Kandhamal: In a major success, the joint team of SOG and DVF jawans has busted a big maoist camp after exchange of fire near Kumbhaharu village under Gochhapada police limits in Kandhamal District. Based on reliable input, an anti-naxalite operation was launched on last Sunday and on Monday morning an exchange of fire broke out between the forces and Maoists. Maoists did heavy firing from advantageous position but the forces immediately took cover and asked the Maoists to surrender. While the police forces fired in a controlled manner in self-defense, taking the benefit of dense jungle and difficult terrain, the Maoists escaped from the spot.
According to an official release, the search operations are still continuing and the forces have recovered a huge cache of arms and other incriminating articles including one .303.Rifle, one 12 Bore Country Made gun, .303 Ammunition, INSAS Ammunition, seven detonators, maoist literature and other articles from the spot.
