Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday nabbed an assistant engineer of Lift Irrigation, Muruda Section under Lift Irrigation Division, Baripada in Mayurbhanj district for allegedly taking bribe.
The assistant engineer has been identified as Gora Singh.
Singh was apprehended by the vigilance officials while demanding and accepting bribe Rs. 5000 from a complainant for processing and submission of feasibility report for digging borewell on the land of his father, a beneficiary under BKVY( Biju Krushak Vikas Yojana).
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Singh.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted by the Vigilance sleuths at three locations of Singh in Mayurbhanj district.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case U/S 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against Singh, the Vigilance said.
