MBPY for Widows Whose Husbands Died Due to COVID-19: BMC to Achieve Target of Social Security Pension by December 2021
Bhubaneswar: Widows whose husbands were the beneficiaries of “Social Security Pension Schemes” and died due to COVID-19 will get pension under Madhubabu Pension Yojana (MBPY). Implementing such decision of the Government, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has considered applications of eligible beneficiaries.
Commissioner BMC Sanjay Kumar Singh has approved eleven such applications today. He has also instructed for early coverage of beneficiaries under the provision.
As on date the eleven applications received from different zones were reviewed in phases as per the guidelines of social security schemes. After its collection and screening at zone office, Deputy Commissioner recommended the applications doing its legal verifications and ultimately concerned claimants have been intimated regarding their benefits. These beneficiaries will be covered under Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY).
The eleven women who are sanctioned to get the pension are – Chagali Sahoo, W/O Shyam Sundar Sahoo, P.Nutan Patra, W/O P. Santosh Patra, Usharani Mohapatra, W/O Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Sasmita Khuntia, W/O Sushant Kumar Sahoo, Jasmini Nayak, W/O Sandip Kumar Behera, Pranati Mohanty, W/O Manas Mohanty, Sukanti Samantaray, W/O Debendranath Samantaray, Shradhanjali Mohapatra,W/O Ajay Kumar Mohapatra, Satyabhama Nayak, W/O Dhoba Nayak and Mamata Sahoo, W/O Harekrushna Sahoo. Ten of them are from North Administrative Zone of BMC and one from South East Zone. In case of any new cases it will be given same weightage to ensure the benefit. The beneficiaries will get their pension under rule -6 of MBPY and the coverage will also count the benefits for persons with 60% plus disability and age above 80 years.
Wise mentioning that, since June 2021 BMC authority has stressed on achieving the target. As on date a total number of coverage of “Social Security Pension” in BMC area is 21,206 beneficiaries against its target of 21,811. Rest 605 beneficiaries are targeted to be covered in the month of December 2021; told Dy. Commissioner Social welfare Ramesh Ch. Jena. Out of total beneficiaries covered 16,448 are under MBPY while 4,758 are covered under National Social Security Pension Scheme. About 12,615 women and 8,591 male constitute the total beneficiaries at present.
