Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for Odisha as the low pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal is intensifying and gradually moving towards the west.
The weather department said that a monsoon trap line has become active on the upper part of the atmosphere following which some parts of the State have already started to witness downpour.
The IMD has also alerted the Odisha Government to take adequate measures for a possible flood-like situation on the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi river system.
The department also warned the fishermen not to venture into the sea till July 3 as a precautionary measure.
