MGNREGS Wage Rate Hikes to Rs 298 in Kendujhar, Additional Cost to Be Borne by DMF Fund

Kendujhar: Now the MGNREGS workers in Kendujhar district will get the minimum wage as fixed by the State Government.

The MGNREGS wage rate as fixed by the Centre is Rs 207 per day. With this hike the MGNREGS workers in Kendujhar district will get Rs 298 per day.

The additional 91 rupees will be borne District Mineral Foundation (DMF) trust in which the district Collector is the chairman.

With this increment, more than 3.78 lakh active workers in Kendujhar are expected to directly benefit from the initiative. For this purpose, Rs 95 crore will be spent under DMF during FY 2020-21.

During 20-21 financial year, , a rural household in the district that completes 100 days of wage employment will now be able to earn as much as Rs 29,800 a year, under MGNREGA.

With this historic step, Kendujhar becomes the first and only district in the country to provide minimum wages to all MGNREGA workers, by utilizing the unprecedented opportunity offered by the DMF.
