Berhampur: The plasma bank of Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital (MKCG MCH) in Odisha’s Ganjam district has achieved a milestone in plasma collection.
The plasma bank has collected over 100 units of plasma in less than a month for the treatment of serious COVID-19 patients in the district.
As per the information shared by the Ganjam administration, the plasma bank, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on August 5, has collected as many as 102 units of plasma as on August 28.
The district administration has so far identified 492 donors, who have voluntarily agreed to give plasma to further streamline the convalescent plasma therapy, which has been showing good results in treating critical patients.
As many as 20 patients have successfully won the battle against coronavirus with convalescent plasma therapy in the district. So far, 97 patients have been administrated the therapy.
Meanwhile, the district administration has once again appealed to the recovered COVID-19 patients to come forward for plasma donation for a noble cause.
