Bhubaneswar: The Mo Khata Counter in Bhubaneswar under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has completed one year of establishment successfully. In the last one year, with the cooperation of the citizens of the capital, the initiative has achieved its goal of providing organic compost and systematic management of garbage. The Swachha Sathis in charge of the counter have celebrated the success in a simple program organized.
During the last one year, the Mo Khata counter has sold 40 metric tons of organic compost. This is a stepping stone to enrich green Bhubaneswar and promote city sanitation to the desirable extent. The initiative taken a year back has grown up crossed a healthy milestone. Cooperation of citizens through segregation of waste at source, dedication of Swachha Sathis and sanitation wing of BMC are the contributing factors of this success, told Suvendu Kumar Sahoo, Dy. Commissioner Sanitation, BMC.
In order to promote the sale and popularizing the organic compost last year “MO Khata Counter” was inaugurated on 8th January 2021 by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra in presence of the Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department G. Mathivatnan near Rajmahal Chhak, Bhubaneswar. The counter is managed by SHG members who sell the product and take advance order for supply.
