Berhampur: The two day plastic free campaign initiated by the Ganjam District administration started today with huge response from across the district. People from all walks of life joined the campaign to clean up Ganjam and ensure zero visibility of plastic. Mass rallies involving common men and officials followed by oath taking and cleaning campaign were held in different blocks and Gram Pancjayats of the district.
The aim is to make Ganjam totally plastic free with the cooperation of all the people. The mass campaign will ensure plastic free Ganjam.
The district administration has taken another important decision to celebrate every Monday as Plastic Free Campaign Day and Jal Swatchta Diwas.
As part of the initiative, Collector Vijay Amrita Kulange and other officials visited various places and participated in community cleaning activities. Zero visibility of Plastic in Ganjam and Plastic Waste Collection programmes were also conducted by various Gram Panchayats.
In Gopalpur, Plastic Free Gopalpur campaign was started as part of the Mo Swabhiman Swachh Ganjam program. Visitors to Gopalpur were requested to avoid usage of single use plastics in the sea beach and other areas.
