Modi Promises A New Dawn in Jammu & Kashmir

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the nation on the issue of scrapping of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and promised to end terrorism in the state and usher development.

In a high pitched speech, the prime minister assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that the decision of his government will help bring in positive changes in the lives of the common people in the state.

Beginning his speech, Modi said “People of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir were deprived of their rights so far. The dreams of Sardar Patel, Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shyamaprasad Mukherjee have now become true”

It was believed that Article 370 can never be changed. It was causing harm to the people of the state for generations and no one could explain how it helped improve the lives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added. The Article 370 helped only the dynastic politics and helped corruption flourish.

He said, 42,000 innocent people have died in the state. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh could not develop the way they should have been. With the abrogation of the Article 370 things will change and the future will be bright for the people. The laws made by parliament were never applied to Jammu and Kashmir. This resulted in underdevelopment and unemployment in the state. Now all the laws will be implemented and all facilities will be there in the state.

“More than One crore people of the state were denied the provisions of the law. Te girls from the state were deprived of their basic rights. The children were deprived of educational rights. Laws to protect the Dalits could not be applied only in Jammu and Kashmir whereas the rest of the country was enjoying the same,” said Modi.

Modi congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on the scrapping of special status to J&K and the state’s bifurcation. Terming the move as ”beginning of a new era in Jammu Kashmir,” Prime Minister Modi said now the rights and duties of the new Union territories same as all other states. Giving details of his grand plans for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Modi said Jammu and Kashmir will rise to newer heights and I am sure that the Kashmiri youth will take the state to newer heights.

He promised protection of Indian laws, industrialisation, boost to tourism and employment opportunities. terming Jammu and Kashmir as the ”crown of our country”, the PM said that the entire nation is extremely proud of it. The PM recalled that people of Jammu and Kashmir have made numerous sacrifices in the past and it was time that now they rise against terrorism and separatism.

The PM informed that his government will soon implement the Pradhan Mantri scholarship scheme to help maximum students of the two Union Territories. All posts that are vacant in the various departments will be soon filled, he added.

The Prime Minister also assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that they alone would choose their political representatives. “I urge the youth and women to come out and actively participate in governance,” the PM said. He also made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir will not be a Union Territory for ever as promised by Union Minister Amit Shah. As and when the situation normalises, full statehood will be granted to the state. The state will have a government chosen by them with a Chief Minister and a Cabinet like before at the appropriate time.

Now there will be IITs and IIMs in the state and producers of films will come to Kashmir to shoot their films as before. Kashmir has the potential to become one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the world.

Congratulating the people on the eve of Eid, Modi said, “I congratulate all on Eid, will try to ensure there is no trouble on Eid.”
