Bhubaneswar: The wait is over. The southwest monsoon has hit Odisha today bringing relief from schorching sun, informed an official here.
Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Indian Meteorological Centre said the southwest monsoon hit the Odisha coast on Friday and the entire State will witness rainfall in the next 72 hours.
The southern part of the State will experience rainfall in the first 12 hours, he said while adding the monsoon will spread to the rest of the parts of Odisha, subsequently.
The southern districts such as Boudh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, etc. will witness rainfall today.
The Indian Meteorological Centre will regularly issue weather forecast reports for farmers and alert districts of the impending rainfall for five days for the benefit of the public, the official further stated.
