More Than 180 Bodies Identified So Far: Chief Secy 

Bhubaneswar: More than 180 bodies of those killed in the Balasore train accident have been identified so far, informed Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena on Monday.

The Chief Secretary said that by now more than 180 bodies have been identified and over 150 bodies have been handed over to the relatives.

In a press briefing, the Chief Secretary said that the relatives of the victims are coming to identify the dead bodies kept in various hospitals. The process to identify the bodies is going on. The family members of the deceased are reaching Odisha in a state of mental distress. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered to pay special attention so that they do not face any problem here, the Chief Secretary said.

After the process of identification of the deceased, the State Government will take measures to issue the death certificate to their families as soon as possible, he added.

The Chief Secretary has highly appreciated the cooperation of local people in the rescue operations.

Jena also requested everyone to advise relatives of the rail accident victims to contact the administration in toll free numbers – 18003450061 or 1929 for help in identifying the bodies.
