Nabarangpur: Taking a strong note of the provocative remarks made by senior Odisha Congress leader Pradip Majhi, the Nabarangpur police registered a suo-motu case against him for instigating violence during a protest at Kosagumuda in the district on Thursday.
The police registered the case under Sections 147, 341, 353, 283, 506, 435, 120 (B) of IPC and Section 3 of PDPP Act.
Majhi courted controversy on Thursday urging party workers to “set ablaze everything immediately after getting directions” during the 12-hour strike called by the party.
The Congress workers led by Majhi observed a 12-hour bandh in Nabarangpur district alleging police inaction in the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in Kosagumuda area on December 14.
“Keep diesel and petrol ready… set everything on fire once you get direction,” Majhi allegedly told a protester over mobile phone.
