Bhubaneswar: Adding yet another glorious chapter in his political journey, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today completed 25 years in public service.
On this day in 1997, Naveen was elected as a member to the Lok Sabha in the by-election from Aska Parliamentary Constituency in Ganjam district as Janata Dal candidate. Naveen was a Union Minister of Steel and Mines, in the Cabinet of former Prime Minister Atal BihariVajpayee.
Naveen founded the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), a regional political party named after his father legendary Biju Patnaik, on December 26, 1997. Naveen became the Chief Minister of Odisha in 2000 for the first time. He is now the longest serving Chief Minister in the State.
Naveen’s humbleness, firm stand against corruption and people-centric transformative initiatives have made his most popular mass leader and ensure invincibility in the political history of Odisha.
The people of Odisha have voted him to power in the record fifth consecutive terms. On May 31, 2022, Naveen completed his third year of fifth term.
Naveen Patnaik has been credited as the most successful Chief Minister in the country for providing a strong and stable government.
Under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik, Odisha has successfully implemented various development schemes under the 5T framework of governance, such as Mission Shakti, Rice BSKY, KALIA, High School Transformation Programme, Food Security (Re 1 per kg rice) to change the destiny of the State.
