Naveen Congratulates H & UD Dept on Wining WRI Ross Center Prize for Cities

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated the Housing & Urban Development Department on winning 2021-2022 WRI Ross Cities Ross Center Prize for Cities, a global recognition for the MUKTA- an Urban Wage Employment Scheme under the 5T initiative of the Odisha Government.

The Chief Minister said that he was glad to know that the State Government’s effort to create mass employment opportunities for vulnerable people during COVID-19 has been appreciated at global level.


The Housing & Urban Development Department has received the prestigious award at an event held on Feb 01,2023 at the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice in New York City.

The award recognizes and acknowledges leaders worldwide who are creating more sustainable and inclusive cities, selected by an international jury through a competitive process amongst applications from 65 countries.
The award acknowledges the H&UD Department’s innovative approach of partnering with Mission Shakti and Slum Dweller Associations in swiftly responding to uncertainty, disruption and crisis by creating large-scale jobs for the urban poor and informal and migrant labourers.
