Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated Justice Mohammad Rafiq on being appointed as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.

Justice Mohammad Rafiq took oath as the 31st Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on Monday in the presence of Governor Ganeshi Lal at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
Following the retirement of Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri, the Orissa High Court was functioning under the aegis of Acting Chief Justice Sanju Panda since January 5, 2020. Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind had ordered the transfer of Justice Mohammad Rafiq, who was earlier serving as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium had made a recommendation in this regard on April 18.
