26-year-old Jena won his maiden National Javelin Throw Championships title on his second attempt in the 3rd National Open Javelin Throw Championships at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.

Back in September, Jena had overpassed his own state record to emerge as the winner in Men’s javelin at the 68th Odisha State Senior Athletics Championship by throwing a distance of 76.41 metres.
