Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has mourned the demise of former Chief Minister of Odisha Hemananda Biswal, who passed away here on Friday.
Describing late Biswal a popular political leader, Naveen said that the former Chief Minister’s contribution towards the development of the marginalized sections of society and the State will always be remembered.
The Odisha CM has also conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed peace to the departed soul.
Biswal, a two-time Chief Minister of Odisha, died at the age of 83.
Born on December 1, 1939, Biswal served as Chief Minister of Odisha from 7 December 1989 to 5 March 1990 and again from 6 December 1999 to 5 March 2000. He was also elected as an MP from Sundergarh Loksabha Constituency in 2009.
Biswal was elected to the Odisha Assembly for the first time in 1974. He was elected to the State Assembly as MLA six times.
