Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the Jaugada Heritage Mahotsav at the famous ancient Ashokan major rock edicts site in Ganjam district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said Jaugada occupies a special and significance place in the history of Odisha.
The rock edits of Jaugada gives information about the administrative polices of Mauryan empire Ashok and spreads his message of Ahimsa (non-violence), Naveen said.
In contemporary times, it is quite necessary to propagate the essence of Ahimsa for a better society, he added.
The Chief Minister also thanked the members of the Jaugada Development Committee and wished success to the festival.
The three-day festival aims at promoting the ancient heritage site and boost tourism in the district. It will feature a host of cultural programmes.
