Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today addressed senior party functionaries about the Cooperative elections that are going to be held in the month of June. During his interaction, Naveen discussed about the roadmap to win the Cooperative elections. He called upon the leaders to be connected with the farmers which is important for the party. The BJD president also announced a seven member committee led by senior leader Pratap Deb that will look after the management of the Cooperative Society elections.

In his address to the leaders, Naveen said that from the point of view of the party, these elections are very important and have to be fought with all seriousness. He said that “Our party has done very well in the last ULB and PRI elections. All our leaders and workers have put in their best efforts to ensure a landslide victory in both. The results have been most satisfactory for us, and, we have been able to form Zilla Parishad in all the 30 districts. Our party candidates have won as Mayors and Corporators, Chairpersons, Vice-Chairpersons and Councillors in almost all ULB’s and the candidates supported by us have won as Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson in most of the blocks.”

“This has now become our new benchmark of political strength in the entire state, and I urge upon all of you to utilize this strength strategically everywhere, so that we can fare much better than the last time in the Apex, Central and Primary level cooperative elections,”Naveen said to party leaders.

The party supremo expressed his pleasure that the District Level Committees have already been formed in each district to monitor the elections at the primary level. For better supervision and monitoring four zonal committees for the Central, North, South, and West zones have also been constituted to coordinate with the District Committees and Observers of the Districts of the respective zones.

Similarly, for overall monitoring and supervision of the entire election process a State Level Committee has been constituted that will coordinate with the districts in the smooth conduct of the elections.

Naveen asked the State Committee to take a review of the Zonal Committees and the district committees once a week till the Primary and Apex level elections and submit their weekly observation regarding the preparedness, progress and prospects for his perusal.

In the first phase, the elections to more than six thousand Primary Societies will be held on 19th and 26th June and after this process is over, the election to the central and Apex societies will be held.
