Bhubaneswar: Ina major development, just few days before counting of votes for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the BJD said party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is fit to be the Prime Minister of the country today.
Speaking to media, vice-president Surya Narayan Patro said, “The people of India and Odisha want Naveen to be the Prime Minister of India. The people had earlier favoured legendary leader and Chief Minister Biju Patnaik as the next Prime Minister of the country.”
He, however, said that BJD should not take the support from Congress for Naveen to be the Prime Minister as there have been instances where the Congress has pulled out support prematurely.
When asked about the equidistant policy , Patro said, “The BJD will extend its support to any party forming the government at the Centre if it promises a holistic development of Odisha.”
