Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal President Naveen Patnaik has nominated two senior BJD leaders to represent the party in the joint action committee (JAC) meeting on delimitation in Chennai.
Former BJD MP Amar Patnaik and former Minister Sanjay Dasburma will attend the JAC meeting convened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin.
Earlier on March 11, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran and Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T.R.B. Raaja met BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik at his residence and requested him to participate in the meeting regarding the delimitation and electoral constituency reorganization issue.
The DMK leaders extended an official invitation to Naveen Patnaik to attend the JAC meeting against the Centre’s proposal to redraw constituencies based on population.
On the instructions of Naveen Patnaik, the senior BJD leaders Amar Patnaik and Sanjay Dasburma have left for Chennai to attend the meeting.
Leaders of various political parties from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala, West Bengal and Punjab are scheduled to attend the meeting tomorrow.
The BJD has decided to participate in the relevant discussions on how the interests of Odisha will be protected if the delimitation is drawn.
