Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid his humble tributes to revolutionary freedom fighter and tribal leader Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary today.
Taking to Twitter, the Odisha CM remembered the revolutionary leader’s contribution towards country’s freedom movement.
Birsa Munda’s sacrifice for the protection of the rights of the tribals and the country’s freedom movement will always be remembered, the CM tweeted.
ବିପ୍ଳବୀ ସ୍ଵାଧୀନତା ସଂଗ୍ରାମୀ ତଥା ଆଦିବାସୀ ଜନନାୟକ ଶହୀଦ ବୀର୍ସା ମୁଣ୍ଡାଙ୍କ ଜୟନ୍ତୀରେ ମୋର ଶ୍ରଦ୍ଧାଞ୍ଜଳି। ତାଙ୍କ ବିରତ୍ୱ ଭାରତର ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ସଂଗ୍ରାମ ଇତିହାସରେ ଏକ ସ୍ୱତନ୍ତ୍ର ଅଧ୍ୟାୟ ହୋଇ ରହିଛି। ଆଦିବାସୀଙ୍କ ଅଧିକାର ସୁରକ୍ଷା ଓ ଦେଶର ସ୍ଵାଧୀନତା ପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କ ସଂଗ୍ରାମ ଏବଂ ବଳିଦାନ ସର୍ବଦା ସ୍ମରଣୀୟ ହୋଇ ରହିବ। pic.twitter.com/fezvTumKtE

Birsa Munda, the tribal revolutionary of the British era, was born on November 15, 1875. Hailing from Munda tribe, Birsa was a 19th-century folk hero who is known for his Millenarian movement to protest against forceful land grabbing by the British government.
He died on June 9, 1900, in a British jail.
