Bhubaneswar: BJD President and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik on Thursday paid humble tributes to the legendary freedom fighter and former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik on his death anniversary.
Naveen Patnaik, in an X post, described Biju Patnaik as Odisha’s pride, stating: “On his death anniversary, I pay tributes to Biju Babu, a revered Odia icon. His fearless spirit and unwavering courage inspire millions. His mantra of living and working for the people will always guide us in serving Odisha’s 4.5 crore citizens.”
Led by BJD’s coordination committee chairman Debi Prasad Mishra, several party leaders performed ‘Tila Tarpan’ for Biju Patnaik at Bindu Sagar, near Shree Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), named after the legendary leader, observed ‘Tirodhan Diwas’ at Sankha Bhawan.
BJD leaders and supporters held various programs across the state to honor Biju Patnaik’s life and legacy.
