Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid his humble tributes to great freedom fighter Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das on his birth anniversary today.
“My humble tributes to great freedom fighter and one of the Panchasakhas (five comrades) Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das on his birth anniversary”, the CM tweeted.
ବିଶିଷ୍ଟ ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ସଂଗ୍ରାମୀ ତଥା ପଞ୍ଚସଖାଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଅନ୍ୟତମ ଉତ୍କଳମଣି ପଣ୍ଡିତ ଗୋପବନ୍ଧୁ ଦାସଙ୍କ ଜୟନ୍ତୀରେ ଶ୍ରଦ୍ଧାଞ୍ଜଳି। ନିଃସ୍ୱାର୍ଥପର ସେବା, ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଭାଷା ଓ ସାହିତ୍ୟକୁ ସମୃଦ୍ଧ କରୁଥିବା ତାଙ୍କ ଅନନ୍ୟ ସାରସ୍ୱତ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ସହିତ ଶିକ୍ଷିତ ସମାଜ ଗଠନର ମୂଲ୍ୟବୋଧ ପାଇଁ ସେ ସର୍ବଦା ସ୍ମରଣୀୟ ରହିବେ। pic.twitter.com/ODgZeuIjmR

Gopabandhu Das will always be remembered for his selfless service and contribution for the enrichment of Odia language and literature, and building an educated society, Naveen wrote.
Gopabandhu Das was born on this day in 1877 in Swando village of Puri district. He was a social worker, reformer, political activist, journalist, poet and essayist. He is popularly known as Utkalamani (Jewel of Utkal or Odisha).
