Naveen Targets Opposition at Khordha Election Meeting, Reiterates His Commitment to People’s Welfare

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has lashed out at the opposition parties on various development issues saying the opposition leaders are just shedding crocodile tears when it comes to development issues of Odisha.

Addressing an election meeting at Khordha, Naveen said the opposition leaders are telling lies on development. Naveen appealed the people to vote for the Biju Janata Dal candidates in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. The Chief Minister took the views regarding the various welfare schemes of the state government such as BSKY, Mission Shakti, Mamata Yojana, KALIA Scheme and Lakshmi Bus etc. Naveen also reminded them that the electricity bill will not come from July. Earlier, the Chief Minister was given a warm welcome by the supporters at the Khordha Public meeting when he arrived.

CM Naveen targeted the present MP of Bhubaneswar saying that she wanted to create obstacles in the transformation of the Puri and Lingaraj Temples.

Kartik Pandian, who was also present at the meeting, lashed out at the Bhubaneswar MP saying that she had written in her report card that an amount of Rs 6400 crore was spent on building National Highways. He questioned the people regarding the role of the MP in the Highway development. The contribution of the MP is just a foot over bridge near Kalinga Stadium, 7000 solar lights and 20 minimax lights, he said. Now she is visiting temples and fixing water coolers. Did the people of Bhubaneswar elect her for this work, he asked. Kartik Pandian said MPs of capital cities have an important role to play. As an MP of Bhubaneswar, she had to bring Metro to the city, ring road to connect the surrounding areas with Bhubaneswar, thereby developing the areas such as Khurda, Begunia, Jatni etc. Her responsibility was to increase the growth prospects of Bhubaneswar but she indulged in small works. The MPs of cities such as Bhopal, Bengaluru, Jaipur brought big projects for their respective cities. We had expectations that, as an MP she will bring IT Parks, Software Parks, Sea Food Parks, Manufacturing Clusters, Textile Parks etc for Bhubaneswar. Her duty was to bring employment opportunities for the youth of the area. But it is not clear what she has done for you, he said.

Criticizing the Bhubaneswar MP, Kartik Pandian said “Has she done anything for the Paika Rebellion – the pride and glory of your region? She has been silent on recognizing the Paika Rebellion as the first war of independence despite Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik writing a number of letters.

Pandian also gave a list of achievements of Naveen Government in Khordha such as bringing big ticket projects such as ACME Greentech Urja Private Limited, Avaada Electro Pvt. Ltd, Electronic Manufacturing Cluster, Berger Paints India Ltd, Rungta Paints Pvt. Ltd, Nestle India Ltd, Sea Food Park, that have created thousands of employment opportunities for the youth of the area with huge investments.

He said, entire Odisha knows that Naveen Patnaik will take oath as Chief Minister for the sixth time on June 9th. After the swearing in, the first signature will be to give free electricity for 90 percent of families in Odisha. The second signature will be on including all people under the BSKY scheme. The third signature will be on pension scheme for Mission Shakti mothers.

He said, the Chief Minister has taken a big decision to ease the burden of middle class families in Odisha. Middle class family members will be given BSKY cards. Interest will be reduced for home loans up to Rs.20 lakh for middle class families. Likewise, interest on loans for higher education will also be reduced. In Odisha, 98 percent of college students have been given scholarships out of which 12,000 are male students and 14,000 are female students; in no other state, so many students have ever been given scholarships.
