Naveen to Raise Demand for Special Category State Status to Odisha at NITI Aayog Meeting Today

New Delhi: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is expected to raise the demand for Special Category State Status to Odisha at the Governing Gouncil meeting of the NITI Aayog to be held here today.

The Chief Minister said that he would raise the long-standing demand for Special Category State Status to Odisha which faces frequent calamities like cyclones and floods. Other demands of the State will also be raised at the NITI Aayog meeting, he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the seventh meeting of the Governing Council of Niti Aayog at Rashtrapati Bhawan Cultural Centre in the national capital on Sunday.

This would be the first in-person meeting of the Governing Council since July 2019.

The governing council comprises the Prime Minister of India; Chief Ministers of all the states and union territories with the legislature; Lt Governors of other UTs; Ex-Officio Members; Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog; Full-Time Members, NITI Aayog; and Union Ministers as Special Invitees.
