Bhubaneswar: As the results of the ensuing elections for the Parliament and Assembly emerge, one thing that has been proved right is the confidence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on women candidates is worthwhile.
The Biju Janata Dal supremo has many a times reposed faith in the capability of women in the development of the state. He not only declared 33 percent tickets to women candidates but also acted truly. He showed that it’s time women are given their rightful place in politics also.
Naveen’s decision to field 33 percent candidates has once again demonstrated that in the days to come they are going to play an important role in politics.
Six out of the seven candidates given tickets to contest for the parliamentary seats by the Biju Janata Dal from Odisha have showed that they can do it.
Starting from Aska candidate Pramila Bisoi to the young and energetic Chandrani Murmu from Keonjhar have gained voters confidence.
While Pramila Bisoi has got more than one lakh fifty thousand margin from her rival candidate, Chandrani is leading with a margin of more than 45 thousand. The same is with Manjulata Mandal, the candidate from Bhadrak who has got more than 2 lakh 30 thousand votes to lead.
Jagatsinghpur candidate Rajashree Malick has got tremendous response to as she got more than one lakh 25 thousand margin from her nearest candidate. Sarmistha Sethy is also going to make history by leading with more than a lakh votes.
This faith shown by the people of Odisha on the Biju Janata Dal’s candidates will surely make way for active participation of women in politics. They will write the story of their development themselves. Naveen has just shown the country that where there is a will, everything is possible. Be it politics or development, women are going to prove their mantle.
