Nayagarh: Jayanta Kumar Das, Assistant Civil Supplies Officer, Nayagarh was arrested by Odisha Vigilance for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets worth Rs 1,60,16,216.
Das was forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Bhubaneswar and will remand in judicial custody till December 18.
In this connection, a case has been registered against the Assistant Civil Supplies Officer and his spouse.
Notably, the vigilance sleuths had conducted simultaneous house searches at 5 places of the Civil Supplies Officer based on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Das.
The teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 4 DSsP, 8 Inspectors, 1 SI, 4 ASIs and other staff conducted the raids on December 4 and 5.
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Das were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.1,60,16,216 which constituted 137% of his known sources of income, according to the Vigilance.
Investigation of the case is in progress, it added.
