Nayagarh: Private Person Who Accepted Bribe on Direction of Cooperative Society Secretary Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday apprehended a private person while demanding and accepting bribe as per the direction of Cooperative Society Secretary in Nayagarh district.

The person has been identified as Sukanta Behera.

Behera has been apprehended by the Vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 4,000 as per the direction of Krushna Chandra Nayak, Secretary, Haripur Cooperative Society, Nayagarh district, from the complainant (a member of the Society) for ltural loans in favour of the complainant and his family members.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from Behera. As the Cooperative Society Secretary has absconded, search is on to nab him, the Vigilance informed.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of accused Nayak from DA angle.

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case no 26/2023 U/s-7PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against both accused persons, the Vigilance said.
