Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s newly appointed School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das on Thursday held a review meeting of the Department and stressed on the fast rebuilding of the cyclone Fani-ravaged schools.
At the review meeting at the State Secretariat here, the minister urged the all concerned officials to expedite repair and restoration work of schools, which were damaged in the natural disaster.
Talking to the media, Das said that distribution of textbooks among students will be ensured on the day of opening of schools after the summer vacation on June 19.
He also informed that schools, which fared poorly in the annual matriculation examination, have been sent notices seeking an explanation on the unsatisfactory performance.
More than 6,498 schools were damaged in cyclone Fani that ravaged 14 districts in Odisha on May 3.
A maximum number of 2,134 schools were damaged in Puri district, which was the worst affected in the cyclonic storm, reports added.
