Bhubaneswar: The next session of Odisha Assembly to be held well before stipulated September 30, informed Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro on Sunday.
Since the last session was held on 30th March, the next session should be held within six months as per the constitutional provision. Accordingly, the House should be in session before September 30.
Prior to session, Patro has consulted with the Speaker of Rajasthan, Karnataka Speaker on the ways and means for holding the session during the pandemic.
“I have talked to the speakers of Rajasthan and Karnataka over holding the Assembly session during COVID-19 pandemic.”, Patro said.
The Odisha Assembly speaker further consulted with the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha secretaries over the next session.
Maintaining social distancing in the House is key.
The date will be fixed for the session after consulting with the Chief Minister and Governor of Odisha.
However, the venue for Monsoon session has not yet been finalised.
